Our Philosophy is...
At Kid’n Around we believe that all parents have the right to expect high quality care and that all children deserve high quality care. We consider communication between the parents, teachers and children essential to providing a well-balanced environment which meets each child’s unique needs. We also believe that every child deserves respect, security, nurturing, encouragement and stimulation.
We believe in developing the child’s independence, and also a good strong sense of self-confidence, self-control and self-discipline. In order to guide children through a happy and secure childhood, we feel that the children must be provided with a stable, safe and consistent environment.
We believe that the child should be exposed to a variety of experiences and have the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity in positive ways. We also think that it is important for children to learn appropriate words and action which will allow them to express their feelings and emotions.
We consider learning to respect and value ourselves and others to be an essential task in early childhood. We hope to provide for the children a setting where they will understand and believe that every child and adult should be considered equal, regardless of skin color, ethnic background or disability.
Guidence and Discipline
Our guidance techniques are geared to the age of the child. For the very young it may be saying “no” or using redirection; for the child who has a comprehension of words, it would be a positive statement, such as “the chair is for sitting”.
We do not interfere in the children’s disagreements as long as neither child is being hurt. As they get older, we are there to supply needed words. Children learn when they solve their own problems, and often the solutions they are comfortable with, by adult standards, do not seem logical. The main objective is that they solve the problem in a way that suits them.
Staff are appropriate behavioral models, showing respect for children, parents, co-workers and their environment. The staff demonstrate affection and caring for each other as well as the children through appropriate forms of verbal and physical interaction.
There is no spanking or other physical punishment and no child is subjected to belittling language, threats or humiliation.
CAPTURE THE MOMENTS
CAPTURE THE MOMENTS, FOLLOW THEIR LEAD. BUILD ON THE WONDER, BUILD ON THE NEED.
LOOK FOR BEGINNINGS FOR REASONS TO KNOW. CAPTURE THE MOMENTS AND KNOWLEDGE TO GROW.
